The street lining Canada Life Centre is donning a new name, but that name is far from unknown for Winnipeg hockey fans.

This summer, Mark Chipman announced Graham Avenue would be given a name, honouring his late friend and Winnipeg Jets superstar Dale Hawerchuck. On Tuesday morning, the Winnipeg Jets snapped a photo of the new sign, announcing Honourary Dale Hawerchuck Way was official.

"Dale, quite simply, is part of the fabric of this city and of the Winnipeg Jets organization. Beyond that, he has contributed so much to the sport of hockey," Chipman said during the August announcement.

Now, Hawerchuck is a literal part of Winnipeg.
