This Saturday Night December 4th, 2021 at 7:00pm at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, the ethereal, beautiful sounds of Winnipeg’s premiere women’s choir Esprit de Choeur will be heard performing their holiday concert that they are calling “So Many Angels.”

Since their founding in 2012, the choir has travelled to Iceland had works composed for them, and have become a gem on the Winnipeg choral scene.

Esprit de Choeur could not be happier to be back singing together. The group took a break due to the COVID lockdown, but in September they started to rehearse again socially distanced, and they are looking forward to performing for a live audience again.

There will be carols written by the wonderful American composer Gwyneth Walker, as well as arrangements of traditional Christmas Carols done by pianist and arranger Steven Smith.

One of the real highlights of the program is a performance of excerpts from Vivaldi’s magnificent and sparkling Gloria RV 589. As director and founder of Esprit de Choeur Valdine Anderson says, “It’s such a great piece! I was thinking we would do a few excerpts from it, but it’s so hard to stop once you get going on it… so eventually we came up to doing 10 of the 12 movements. It really seems like the quintessential Christmas sounding piece.”

The choir will be joined by extra musicians to help perform the Vivaldi Gloria, as well as some of the other arrangements. This is a concert that is going to be a feast for the ears!

Admission to the concert is by donation, and will also be streamed live on Facebook. This is sure to be a terrific way to kick off the holiday season!
