A Winnipeg man is facing several charges after officers noticed him sitting in a parked car that had been reported stolen.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in a release that on Oct. 19, at approximately 1:00 a.m., patrolling officers saw the stolen vehicle from Selkirk sitting on the 600 block of Portage Ave. in Winnipeg.

The officers initiated a traffic stop and arrested the adult male driver and adult female passenger without incident.

When searching the driver, officers found a large amount of narcotics, including 177 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of almost $18,000. Police also allege that they found 7.6 grams of crack cocaine valued at $760 as well as prescription pills valued at $500 on the man. 

The 38-year-old man has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – COCAINE

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

He was released on an Appearance Notice and Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Officers released the female passenger with no charges.
