Mozart's Requiem, one of the most popular choral works of all time, happens tomorrow (Friday) at Knox United Church in downtown Winnipeg. Neil Weisensel, co-founder and director of Winnipeg's newest summer season community choir SummerChör, joins Sarah Jo at 4 today (Thursday) to talk about the ensemble's summer journey and its coming culmination.

SummerChör Winnipeg is an initiative of World Village Music, a Winnipeg arts company founded by a beautiful team in music and life, soprano Rachel Landrecht and composer Neil Weisensel, co-directors of Winnipeg's World Village Gospel Choir.

With the help of assistant conductor Nancy Gomes and collabortive pianist Cary Denby, Weisensel has prepared an impressive regiment of community singers over the summer season to present Mozart's Requiem.

SummerChör will be joined by a community orchestra tomorrow night in addition to four professional soloists: soprano Rachel Landrecht, mezzo soprano Rose van der Hooft, tenor Jan van der Hooft, and baritone Matthew Pauls.

The concert begins at 7:30pm in the stunning sanctuary of Knox United Church located at 400 Edmonton St. Tickets are available at the door for $15 or in advance for $12 from the SummerChör website or by calling (204) 881-3322.
