A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a road rage incident that happened six months ago.

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 6:10 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to Osborne Street and River Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found a 75-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with an upper-body injury. He was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for his injuries.

Officers determined that a collision did not occur, and the victim’s injury resulted from an assault.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned the victim and suspect were involved in a road rage incident where both vehicles had stopped in a parking lot in the 400 block of River Avenue.

They exited their vehicles, and the victim was physically assaulted. He was rendered unconscious, fell to the sidewalk, and sustained life-altering injuries.

On June 21, 2023, a 37-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested and is facing a charge of Aggravated Assault.

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code
