No injuries were reported in a fire on Tuesday morning in downtown Winnipeg.
Just before 10 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a ten-storey apartment building on Carlton Street.
Crews found smoke coming from the building when they arrived. They quickly extinguished the blaze and then turned their sights to ventilate smoke from the building.
Some residents self-evacuated while others sheltered in their suites.
Firefighters contained the fire where it originated, but 16 suites were not able to be re-occupied due to water damage. Building management is working to arrange temporary accommodations for the displaced residents.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental.
