Thursday night (Dec 04) Winnipeg flutist Haley Rempel takes audiences on a journey with one of the oldest Instruments the World . . .. The Enchanted Flute.  Opening the show will be Xiao Nan Wang on his adapted Chinese flute. Haley herself will be performing as well as Grammy nominated and Juno award-winning world percussionist Scott Senior.

Over the past 20 years, Winter Harp has become famous for its soul-stirring rendition of carols and its unique combination of harps, flutes, medieval instruments, percussion, poetry and song. Friday night (Dec 05) Winter Harp will be bringing that holiday magic to Pantages Playhouse Theatre complete with velvet gowns, golden instruments, candles and backdrops of cathedrals and snow. This year’s special guest is legendary harpist Kim Robertson and back by popular demand is acclaimed singer and harper Roger Helfrick. Showtime is 7:30 PM tomorrow night. Saturday night (Dec 06) marks the next concert in Winnipeg’s International Recital & Chamber Music Concert Series, Virtuosi. It’s called ‘My Favourite Key’ and it features the Kim piano Duo made up of Michael and Kyung Kim. They are accompanied by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra String Quintet. Created by Michael Kim, the programme chronicles how a composer’s choice of key signature influences the creative process and shapes the cognitive and emotional perceptions of the audience.  “Ranging from the innocent purity of C major, the triumph and victory of D major, and the noble grandeur of E flat major, to the languishing of C minor and the tragic pathos of F minor”

There are two concerts. Saturday night at 8:00 PM in Eckardt-Gramtté Hall at the University of Winnipeg and then again Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM. On Saturday night (Dec 06) The Winnipeg Singers present their second concert of the season with a wonderful holiday program called Sing Glory! The group led by Yuri Klaz will be performing and celebrating the season with music by Antonio Vivaldi, Francis Poulenc, Glenn Buhr and timothy Corlis. As always The Winnipeg Singers will have special guest artists on the program – And I have to say Ilove how they do this. For Saturday night’s concert it will be the Windsor String Quartet, organist Wes Elias and the Mennonite Collegiate Institute Chamber Choir from Gretna Manitoba, directed by Rick Heppner-Mueller. The soloists of the night are soprano Tracy Dahl and mezzo-soprano Kristen Schellenberg.

Showtime is 7:00 PM Saturday night at Westminster United Church. Tickets are $30 with special pricing for seniors. For those 30 and under it’s only $15. Tickets are available through McNally Robinson Booksellers or at the door the night of.

SINGLE tickets to the March run of The Book of Mormon at the Centennial Concert Hall go on sale Monday (Dec 08) at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets.

The winner of nine Tony Awards, including best musical, will make its long-awaited Winnipeg debut when an American touring production arrives for a March 17-22, 2015 engagement. Tickets, which will also be available at the the concert hall box office, are $35 to $98.

The Book of Mormon was written by American satirists Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the Emmy-winning South Park cartoon series, as well as by Robert Lopez, co-writer of the stage musical Avenue Q. It tells the buddy story of two American Mormons who go to Uganda in an attempt to convert the locals.
