Classic 107's Luke Thiessen brings us the story of a new Winnipeg company making a niche for itself in professional hockey.

Former Canadian National Speed Skating team member Scott Van Horne began making his own speed skates to accommodate his abnormally flat feet, starting as a teen. Eventually he became an expert in carbon fiber and the mechanics of skating.

Today, he is the name behind local skate manufacturer VH Footwear - named for Van Horne. VH Footwear's first  NHL customer was none other than Winnipeg Jets Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien. Now the company supplies skates to 25 NHL players.
