Paul von Wichert will now move to Sunday afternoons where he will continue to entertain listeners with his wealth of musical knowledge and easy going charm on Sunday Afternoon Classics. There is one thing you may not know about Paul. He is a huge fan of film music! Starting this weekend, Paul will devote the 2 o'clock hour to this genre every Sunday.

On this weekend's matinee show we'll be treated to music from the 1948 film Scott of the Antarctic.  The film depicts Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition and his attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole in Antarctica. John Mills played Scott, with a supporting cast which included James Robertson Justice, Derek Bond, Kenneth More, John Gregson, Barry Letts and Christopher Lee.

Produced by Ealing Studios, the film was directed by Charles Frend on location in the Antarctic (at the Hope Bay base of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey), in Switzerland and in Norway. It was filmed in Technicolor.

The film is also known for its score by Ralph Vaughan Williams that was later reworked into his Sinfonia antartica.

Paul will also have music composed by Sir Arthur Bliss for the 1960's documentary Royal Palace.

Tune in to Sunday Afternoon Classics every Sunday from Noon to 6:00 PM on Classic 107.
