With the long weekend this weekend, what's open and closed in Winnipeg?

Grocery stores:

  • Walmart will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Superstore will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Safeway and Sobeys stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., depending on the location. 
  • Costco will be closed on Monday. 

City services:

  • All City of Winnipeg offices will be closed on May 20, but the city's 311 phone service will still be available.
  • The Winnipeg Parking Authority office will be closed over the long weekend, but people can still pay for parking tickets online. 

Garbage and recycling:

  • The garbage, recycling, and yard waste services will run as scheduled for people who have Monday as their collection day. To figure out what your collection day is, visit the city's webpage, download the Recyclepedia app, or call 311 or email 311@winnipeg.ca.

Libraries:

  • All Winnipeg Public Library locations will be closed on Monday. 

Shopping centres:

  • On Monday, the Kildonan Place, St. Vital Centre, Polo Park, Outlet Collection Winnipeg and Garden City Shopping Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Monday.
  • Portage Place will be closed. 

Museums, galleries and activities:

  • Most indoor pools, fitness and leisure centres are closed on Monday. The Pan Am Pool is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Margaret Grant Pool is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Both the Manitoba Museum and the St. Boniface Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.

Winnipeg Transit:

  • Bus services will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
