An American news organization is naming Winnipeg as one of the top places of 2021.

TIME is labelling the prairie city as one of this year's leaders in adapting to the year's circumstances.

"In many ways, our third annual list of the World’s Greatest Places is a tribute to the people and businesses at the forefront of those industries who, amid extraordinary circumstances, found ways to adapt, build and innovate. It shines a light on ingenuity, creativity, revitalization and reopenings in destinations across the world," TIME writes.

Winnipeg was chosen as in the list for its art. Qaumajuq, a new downtown Inuit art gallery, drew their attention.

"The opening of Qaumajuq highlights the creative side of Winnipeg, a prairie city that is also home to the acclaimed Royal Winnipeg Ballet."

TIME highlights the New Music Festival and Warming Huts as reasons for Winnipeg joining the rank of one hundred other locations on Earth as being the greatest places of 2021.

"Our city continues to solidify its global reputation as the cultural cradle of Canada with world-class offerings including Winnipeg Art Gallery's Qaumajuq, Warming Huts, the New Music Festival and more," Visit Winnipeg says on Facebook.

Winnipeg is one of two Canadian destinations on this list, with the other being Jasper, Alberta.
