The Winnipeg Jets know who their first round opponent in the Stanley Cup Playoffs is, and now many fans know where they’re going to watch home games if they can’t get tickets.

Economic Development Winnipeg announced today it will be hosting the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, to give fans an outdoor space where they can catch Jets’ playoff action.

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. This is our chance to showcase Winnipeg to the world,” Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg, said in a release. “Our city has been waiting a long time for a team that has a chance for a deep playoff run.”

The street party will take place on Donald St. between Portage Ave. and Graham Ave. before and during every Winnipeg Jets home playoff games.

The event will feature two viewing screens, local food trucks and other food and drink options.

“Playoff fever has been building up in this city and we anticipate that fans will want a place to come together and share their energy and excitement,” Kevin Donnely, Senior Vice-President, Venues & Entertainment for True North Sports + Entertainment said in a release. “We’ve seen the success of similar events in cities like Calgary and Nashville and it’s our turn to put Winnipeg in the spotlight.”

The Jets have home ice advantage against the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the playoffs. That means games one, two and if necessary five and seven will be in Winnipeg.

The schedule is expected to be released after this weekend. The Stanley Cup Playoffs start on Wednesday, Apr. 11, 2017.
