An All-Star quarterback will be sporting blue and gold for another season.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers says Collaros will be back for the 2022 season. His contract was extended for one year, a month before he was to become a free agent. This will be the 34-year-old's third season with the Bombers and tenth in the CFL.

"The 2021 campaign was a memorable one for Collaros, as he helped guide his squad to a second consecutive Grey Cup championship while being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player, the Blue Bombers Most Outstanding Player as well as earning West Division and CFL All-Star honours," the Winnipeg Blue Bombers says in a statement.

Zach Collaros, who was signed to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in October of 2019, was instrumental in winning the 2019 Grey Cup championship. In 2021, the Bombers would go on to win a second cup.

"He has a 46-34 record as a starter in his career and has thrown for 20,164 yards with 114 touchdowns against 58 interceptions."

All-star linebacker Adam Bighill is also seeing a one-year contract extension. The Bombers say the  34-year-old is "one of the most decorated defenders in league history, Bighill’s 2021 season was one of his finest as he led the CFL’s stingiest defence with 70 tackles and added two quarterback sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries – one for a touchdown."

Bighill is a three-time Grey Cup champion.
