Maple Grove Dog Park gets new shelter and path upgrades
Winnipeggers and their four-legged friends now have a new space to hang out. On Saturday, the city celebrated the completion of a new shade shelter at Maple Grove Dog Park. "Maple Grove is more than a park; it’s a vibrant community hub," said Councillor Markus Chambers, St. Norbert–Seine River. "Enhancements like this reflect how much we value spaces where people and pets can connect. This new shelter is an investment in the shared places that bring people together and make Maple Grove even more welcoming and enjoyable for families year-round." Several people were on hand for the grand opening, including city councillors and members of the Maple Grove Park Dog Owners Association. "While dog parks are great places for our four-legged friends, they are fantastic places for the humans to meet, make new friends & relax & enjoy nature!" said Janice Lukes, Waverley West councillor. The new shelter can be reached via a new granular path, which will soon be lit up by $35,000 worth of solar lighting. "We know dogs need exercise rain or shine, and now these owners have a roof over their heads while their pets play in case either of those things is too strong," said Councillor Lukes. The project cost over $91,000 to complete.
