Classic 107 - Winnipeg's classical and jazz radio station.

This Saturday 10:00pm join host Roxane Gagne for the complete recording of pianist/vocalist Ben Paterson.

Ben Paterson is caught in the middle between modern and vinatge jazz, and he is quite comfortable being there. He believes that the joyful feeling of swing captured by Nat King Cole & Oscar Peterson still has a very relevant role to play, continually drawing new fans from around the world and helping to define the tradition of what makes jazz so universal.

Joined by bass player George Delancy and guitarist Chris Flory, this album is a nice mix of swing, ballads, blues and each player has the opportunity to stretch and have fun. The vintage, or standard jazz, shows up on many tracks like I'm Old Fashioned, You and the Night and the Music and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, while modern covers such as Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love and Stevie Wonder's Isn't She Lovely will be more familiar to the youthful audience.

Paterson has played at many of the major jazz festivals around the world, opened for artists like Budy Guy, BB King and Steely Dan, and this is his fifth recording.
