Brandon University's jazz program will be on display at this week's Brandon Jazz Festival.

BU School of Music professor Michael Cain and his band Sola will be one of the feature performers at the festival, which runs this Thursday to Saturday.

The band also includes BU professors Eric Platz, who plays drums, and Matt Steckler on sax, as well as three alumni: Aren Teerhuis also on sax, Stormy Allen on trombone, and Scott Brown on guitar. Winnipeg a cappella group Those Guys will also be performing at the festival.

BU's jazz program is marking its 15th year, and the university celebrating its 50th year since receiving its charter. The Brandon Jazz Festival turns 35 this year.

The Brandon Jazz Festival happens on the BU campus every March. It's a non-competitive event in which school-based musicians and community groups perform and receive feedback from adjudicators.
