Canada's family is a little bigger.

This morning, nineteen people from 10 different countries officially became Canadian citizens at a ceremony at Winnipeg Police Headquarters.

"I've worked towards this for quite a long time, so it feels thrilling," said Olamide Ainah, who is from Nigeria and has lived in Canada for five years.

During the ceremony, new citizens recited an oath and sang O Canada. They also heard remarks from special guests, including Captain Eruebi of the Royal Canadian Air Force.ainah2 sept13

Ainah says she's studying engineering and wants to be in the armed forces. She says hearing from an Air Force captain was inspiring.

"I was so thrilled. I was like, 'Yeah, I'm coming there,'" said Ainah.

The ceremony also included a video message from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
