If you heard sirens and saw a heavy police presence, including the bomb squad, at RCMP Headquarters in Winnipeg today, don't worry, it had nothing to do with criminal activity.


Manitoba RCMP held a Canada 150 event today, in which officers met with Winnipeggers and gave equipment demonstrations.

Dante Huebner is an aspiring K-9 police officer himself; he and his mom Angela were among the many people checking it out, and they were excited to be there.



At one point Dante got to sit in the front seat of a cruiser, and he declared his mom was under arrest.

D division commanding officer Scott Kolody says fundamental in the open house is the public seeing police as citizens and human beings, with a chance to speak to officers and get to know them.
