UPDATE: The thunderstorm warning and watch over Winnipeg has ended.

A number of areas are under severe thunderstorm watches and warnings this morning in Manitoba.

That includes the City of Winnipeg which is now under a severe thunderstorm warning.

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.

The line of thunderstorms has moved into southern Red River Valley and is moving rapidly to the northeast. Damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours are likely.

Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
