Combinations of black, yellow and green squares have been popping up on people’s timelines and tweets in recent weeks.

The seemingly cryptic posts refer to individual’s guesses in the viral online word game, “WORDLE” created by Josh Wardle. Each day, players are given 6 tries to guess a 5 letter word with the colour of the tiles changing to show how close each guess was to the word.

If that doesn’t prove to be challenge enough, a new parody game created for music aficionados might prove to be another welcome distraction.

Referencing the great English Renaissance composer William Byrd, “BYRDLE” is another daily word game that features a term directly related to choral music.
