Welcome to the 1st show of May!

Hopefully April showers will bring May flowers. If the first few days of May are any indication we should start seeing some colourful tulips popping up very soon. I love the city when the green canopy of trees spreads across the streets and from above Winnipeg looks like a lush, tropical city. Ok, maybe not tropical, there are no palm trees swaying in the ocean breeze, but it does look beautiful don't you think?

Hence, I will serenade the city with an hour of flower music, "flower power!"

This is also the time of year that we begin to see more and more children playing outside, enjoying the spring weather and running around without the bulk of jackets, hats and heavy boots. Adults should remember as well never to lose that adventurous spirit and playfulness, so tune in for some fun music in the 'childhood" hour:

And it is the first show of May, so help me celebrate many of the wonderful and varied composers born this month: Satie, Massenet, Faure, Tchaikovsky and more:

We will also celebrate Mother's Day with music for all those celebrating Mother's Day.

It's always fun, so join me from noon-6:00 every Saturday for The Wide World of Classical Music.
