Swan River RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 33-year-old woman late last week.

The crash happened on Provincial Road 483, approximately eight kilometres west of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a mini-van with four occupants in a ditch.

One of the three passengers, a 33-year-old female from Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old male, also from the community, and a 38-year-old female, from Swan River, were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old female driver of the van was not physically injured.

Following an investigation, RCMP arrested the driver and charged her with Impaired Driving Causing Death. She was transported back to the Swan River Detachment, where she provided samples of her breath for analysis that were found to be over three times the legal limit.

Swan River RCMP continue to investigate.
