For over 100 years, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Canadians have paused for a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace. 

This year, Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday. 

Here's a look at what's opened, what's closed, and services which may be impacted. 

 

Shopping Centres, Grocery Stores and Liquor Marts

All major malls including CF Polo Park Shopping Centre, St. Vital Shopping Centre, Kildonan Place, Grant Park Shopping Centre and Garden City Shopping Centre open at 1 p.m.

Most grocery stores will be operating with reduced hours. Grocery stores such as Walmart, Superstore, Safeway and Sobeys are set to open at 1 p.m.

Liquor Marts are open from 1 p.m., with varying closing hours. 

 

Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Open on November 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with free visitor entry for military personnel and veterans, and their families.

Assiniboine Park Zoo

The Zoo is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Remembrance Day. 

WAG-Qaumajuq 

WAG-Qaumajuq  will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Remembrance Day. 

Manitoba Museum

Open on November 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

City of Winnipeg Services 

Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule, Saturday, Nov. 11. with free service being offered to Armed Forces veterans and those currently serving, including cadets and reservists, along with one companion.

Civic Offices 

All civic offices will be closed on Monday, November 13. 

Libraries

All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed Saturday and Monday.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Expect normally scheduled recycling and garbage pick-up for those with Monday, November 13 at their collection day. 

The Brady Road Resource Management Facility (Brady Road Landfill) and all 4R Winnipeg Depots are closed on Saturday, November 11.
