The Interlake region of Manitoba can expect strong winds as a high-wind warning is issued that will last throughout the weekend.

This afternoon, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure's Hydrological Forecast Centre sent out an advisory for high winds developing on the south shores of Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba. The strong winds will develop early tomorrow morning and will last until late Sunday event which will effect the south basin of the two large lakes.

The statement says that "the forecast northwest wind gusts up to 65 km/h along with wave action could raise water levels by as much as five feet or more."

Residents and property owners are being encouraged to be vigilant and to take precautions if needed.
